I’m thrilled to see Song Joong Ki in a romance drama! He has done romance in his previous roles but those shows (Reborn Rich, Vincenzo, Arthdal Chronicles) had focus on something else rather than being a complete romance story. I’m also happy that his costar will be Chun Woo Hee (The Atypical Family) who I absolutely loved in Be Melodramatic. Their new show is called My Youth and it’s a reunion love story.

Song Joong Ki stars as Sunwoo Hae, a novelist and florist who used to be a successful child actor. Due to greed of the adults around him, he lost his light. He is starting a new chapter of his life in the present after a chaotic period. Chun Woo Hee plays Sung Je Yeon, an ambitious team leader at Feel Entertainment, an entertainment agency. She grew up in a wealthy family but had to face hardships after their sudden downfall. She is now determined to succeed and is a practical person. She is also the hero’s first love. Both of them supported each other during their past dark times but then they went on their separate ways. She disturbs his peaceful life when she seeks him out after many years.

My Youth also stars Lee Joo Myung (Like Flowers In Sand) as an actress who is managed by Sung Je Yeon.

My Youth is penned by the writer of Run On (JTBC) which was praised for its refreshing story of love and growth. The “Reunited Lovers” trope is nothing new in dramaland — even the shows whose main trope is something else, somehow make a childhood connection between the leads. But the synopsis of My Youth sounds like it has something fresh to offer as well.

The show plans to air sometime in 2025. Obviously.
