If the actors confirm, this is going to be one of the most anticipated dramas! Top stars Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo are in talks to star in acclaimed writer No Hee Kyung‘s new drama. The writer has penned popular melodramas like Goodbye, Solo (2006), Worlds Within… (2008), Padam Padam (2011), It’s Okay, That’s Love (2014), Dear My Friends (2016) and Our Blues (2022) among others. If Song Hye Kyo confirms, this will be her third drama with the writer after Worlds Within… and That Winter, The Wind Blows (2013).

The new Korean drama is a period story set during the time of the birth of South Korea’s entertainment industry. It is said to show the realistic portrayal of the people in the broadcasting industry. I’m definitely curious about this plot. Although we have seen numerous Kdramas set in the entertainment industry, the time period sets this one apart. Also, Gong Yoo in a romance drama? Swoon.

Both the leads are actors whose dramas are considered to be classics (Full House and Coffee Prince)— they were superhits during their run and have been gateway shows for new viewers too since many years. That’s why this potential casting has clicked all my nostalgia buttons since I have been watching them and reading about them since the days when I first started watching Korean dramas. Also, there is something really satisfying about seeing two actors in their 40s cast opposite each other.

The director for the new drama has helmed shows like Coffee Prince and Cheese In The Trap — I love her indie like, subtle and low-key style.
