This is one of those Korean drama news that makes me feel like the cat that got the cream. One of my favorite actresses, Jung So Min (Alchemy Of Souls) and Jung Hae In (Snowdrop), an actor I really like, have confirmed to star together in a romantic comedy drama. The title is Mom’s Friend’s Son and the plot sounds very slice-of-life and simple — also my favorite kind of rom-coms. It is penned by the writer of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha — a show I really admired.

Jung So Min plays a woman who wants a fresh start in her life. She is a successful project manager who one day suffers from breakdown. Jung Hae In plays an architect who is her mother’s friend’s son. They spent lots of time together during childhood and something dark in their past is related to each other. The story is about how they reunite as adults. Jung Hae In has done romance dramas before but they tilted more towards drama than lighthearted vibe. So Mom’s Friend’s Son can be considered his first proper romantic comedy.

Mom’s Friend’s Son will air on tvN and is planning to premiere in second half of 2024. Can’t wait to enjoy the chemistry of these two lovely actors!
