I’ve always been a fan of simple, slice-of-life stories and the upcoming Korean movie Pavane sounds like a new entry to such projects. The film centers around a department store and it’s based on 2009 novel Jookeun Wangnyeoreul Wihan Pavane by Park Min Kyu. It has a top-notch cast that includes Go Ah Sung (Life On Mars), Byun Yo Han (Misaeng) and Moon Sang Min (Wedding Impossible).
Go Ah Sung stars as a department store employee who avoids being seen by other people as she gets uncomfortable stares from them due to her gloomy expressions. Byun Yo Han plays a free-spirited man who loves rock music and classic romance movies. He works at the department store parking lot. Finally, Moon Sang Min is taking up the role of a man who starts working as a part time employee at the store, after giving up his ambition of wanting a different career path. He falls for Go Ah Sung’s character. Pavane will depict their story of how the characters initially struggle to love themselves but later find love and solace in each other’s company.
Pavane is directed by Lee Jong Pil (movies Samjin Company English Class, The Sound Of A Flower; drama One Day Off) and is slated to release next year. It started filming recently.
