I can’t believe the year is already about to end! I watched a lot less Korean dramas in 2025 but fingers crossed that I’ll be able to see some more before the year ends. Here is a list of Korean TV shows that are premiering in December — I’m excited for quite a few:
The Price of Confession

Premiere Date: December 5
Network: Netflix
Stars: Jeon Do Yeon (Crash Course In Romance), Kim Go Eun (You And Everything Else), Park Hae Soo (Squid Game), Jin Seon Kyu (Through The Darkness)
Slot: All episodes released together
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Mystery, Thriller, Crime
Synopsis: Accused of killing her husband, a woman is offered a way out by a mysterious stranger: in exchange for a confession in her place, she must commit murder.
Thoughts: This drama sounds intriguing and has the kind of mystery-thriller premise that always gets my attention.
Pro Bono

Premiere Date: December 6
Network: tvN
Stars: Jung Kyung Ho (Crash Course In Romance), So Ju Yeon (The Midnight Romance In Hagwon), Yoon Na Moo (Connection), Seo Hye Won (Lovely Runner), Kang Hyung Suk (Love In Contract)
Slot: Saturday & Sunday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Comedy, Law, Drama
Synopsis: It is about a materialistic judge who only cares about success, but unexpectedly becomes a public interest lawyer.
Thoughts: The show sounds fun and with Jung Kyung Ho headlining it, the potential is huge.
Surely Tomorrow

Premiere Date: December 6
Network: JTBC
Stars: Park Seo Joon (Itaewon Class), Won Ji An (Tempest), Lee El (My Liberation Notes)
Slot: Saturday & Sunday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Romance, Drama
Synopsis: It is about two people who first fell in love at 20 and then again dated at 28 before breaking up again. Years later, they meet again— he is a journalist covering an affair scandal and she is the wife of the man at the center of it.
Thoughts: I’m so excited to see Park Seo Joon in a romance again! The reunited-exes plot would have sounded tired but the added detail about him being a reporter covering her husband’s affair does add more to the trope, as well as them breaking up not once but twice.
Love Me

Premiere Date: December 19
Network: JTBC
Stars: Seo Hyun Jin (The Trunk), Jang Ryool (Daily Dose of Sunshine), Yoo Jae Myung (Stranger), Yoon Se Ah (SKY Castle), Lee Shi Woo (Boyhood)
Slot: Friday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Romance, Drama
Synopsis: It is about a flawed yet relatable family where each person sets off on their own path toward love and self-discovery.
Thoughts: I love stories with multiple love lines and this one looks like a sweet, warm drama featuring it.
Villains

Premiere Date: December 18
Network: TVING
Stars: Yoo Ji Tae (When My Love Blooms), Lee Min Jung (Once Again), Kwak Do Won (Steel Rain), Lee Bum Soo (Mercy For None)
Slot: Saturday & Sunday
Number Of Episodes: 8
Genre: Thursday
Synopsis: It’s about clashes between different criminals who are entangled in the world of counterfeit money.
Thoughts: The plot sounds different and offbeat. Hopefully it delivers.
Idol I

Premiere Date: December 22
Network: ENA
Stars: Sooyoung (Second Shot At Love), Kim Jae Young (The Judge From Hell), Kim Hyun Jin (Crushology 101), Choi Hee Jin (Motel California)
Slot: Monday & Tuesday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Romance, Comedy, Mystery
Synopsis: A star lawyer who is a devoted fan of an idol, takes on his case when he is accused of murder.
Thoughts: Oh this comes across as a perfect mix of romance and mystery. Plus, it feels like Lovely Runner where the heroine tries to save the hero. Color me interested!
Cashero

Premiere Date: December 26
Network: Netflix
Stars: Lee Jun Ho (Typhoon Family), Kim Hyang Gi (At Eighteen), Kim Hye Joon (A Shop For Killers), Kim Byung Chul (Doctor Cha)
Slot: All episodes released together
Number Of Episodes: 8
Genre: Fantasy, Action, Comedy
Synopsis: It is a superhero story about an ordinary government employee who gets the special ability to gain as much strength as the cash he holds.
Thoughts: Another Lee Jun Ho drama so soon after Typhoon Family! I’m not complaining. Story sounds like it can be a fun combination of action and adventure.
Made In Korea

Premiere Date: December 24
Network: Disney+
Stars: Hyun Bin (Crash Landing On You), Jung Woo Sung (Tell Me You Love Me), Woo Do Hwan (Mr. Plankton), Seo Eun Soo (Chief Detective 1958), Won Ji Ahn (D.P.), Jo Yeo Jung (Parasite), Jung Sung Il (The Glory)
Slot: Wednesday
Number Of Episodes: 6
Genre: Action, Thriller
Synopsis: Set in the 1970s, it centers around a man driven by ambition for wealth and power, and a prosecutor who sacrifices everything to stop him.
Thoughts: So many good names in the cast, which is enough to pique my interest.
Yes, it’s hard to believe 2025 is coming to an end already. Time seems to fly faster every year that passes.
Kdramas just don’t seem to appeal to me anymore and it’s quite hard to find any to watch. So, it’s no surprise that I have no interest in any of the December dramas. I tried Surely Tomorrow but I didn’t like either of the lead characters and the story was kinda meh, so I dropped it. I guess it’s more costume cdramas for 2026 then. 😛 Though, I do intend to rewatch couple of older kdramas next year as well. Been planning on that for a while now.
That’s actually a great idea to watch older Kdramas. I do it sometimes and it just reminds me why I started to love them in the first place. I also think these days there are so many dramas everywhere and it is hard to navigate that flood, not to mention even with 12 eps they seem to drag LOL or not gripping enough to continue.
This is another reason I watched less shows this year, as I did not find the urge to play that next ep.
I wonder where the “sparkle” has gone as many are kinda bland and boring. So many don’t even feel like kdrama anymore. Yes, there are so many these days and they are all dispersed on various streaming platforms, most of which I don’t subscribe to. If there happens to be one I’m truly keen on, I’m usually able to find “somewhere else” to watch them, ha.
I just accidentally found out that KBS World’s YT channel seems to have several older dramas free to watch. There might be some worth watching/rewatching that are missing from my own “stash”.
