It is that time of the year again when I summarize my year in dramaland. I watched a much smaller number of Korean dramas in 2025 (only four). I dropped some shows that I started (for reasons ranging from diminishing interest to not being in the mood for emotionally sad stories) and I also got busier. This is my 14th Year In Review post (!!!). As always, I’m hoping to watch more dramas this year and enjoy the ones I give a try.
2025 dramas I watched
(In Alphabetical Order)
Love Scout

About: It’s a love story between a CEO of a successful headhunter company who is terrific at her work but clueless in everything else and her highly competent secretary who is also a single father.
Thoughts:
A warm, sweet romance drama that features mature protagonists and brings freshness through the gender-flipped workplace dynamics. I absolutely loved its subtle romance — stolen glances, quiet smiles, shared silences. There is also plenty of adorableness that involves the hero’s daughter. I also love that the drama has second love story with the supporting leads. The show presents a different setting by using HR at its center. It loses some steam towards the end but overall the drama is gentle, warm, and easy, like a warm cup of coffee in winters.

Our Unwritten Seoul

About: It’s about identical twin sisters who lead completely different lives. They end up switching their lives and embarking on a journey to discover real love and the true meaning of life.
Thoughts:
A lot of times these kinds of stories are laced with quirkiness and funny hijinks. It’s thrilling to see this drama handle this plot with a thoughtful and introspective lens. With remarkable realism, the show peels back the layers of its characters; presenting them not as archetypes but as fully formed, flawed, and vulnerable people. The drama is also laced with subtle humor, poignant moments and swoony romance. The show also portrays mental health as one of the main themes and treats it with sensitivity and nuance. There are some strange plot choices that I didn’t fully understand (like the manager having exact same face as their dad) but overall, it is a solid show. Park Bo Young is terrific in both roles.

Dynamite Kiss

About: It’s about a single woman who disguises as a married mother to land a job, and the team leader who unexpectedly falls for her.
Thoughts:
A delightful rom-com packed with humor, charm and plenty of tropes! The show is a laughter tornado — the main attraction for me was the comedy that made me laugh out loud on many occasions. Jang Ki Yong delivers a standout performance! The romance is witty and cute, with spirited chemistry between the leads. The workplace shenanigans and storyline involving the main four leads are fun to watch. It is a very enjoyable show but it stumbles with clichéd villains and last minute plot devices like noble idiocy and amnesia that weaken the finale. Still, despite its flaws and a less satisfying ending, Dynamite Kiss remains a funny, charming, and thoroughly entertaining watch.

The Price Of Confession

About: Accused of killing her husband, a woman is offered a way out by a mysterious fellow prisoner: in exchange for a confession in her place, she must commit murder.
Thoughts:
A dark, atmospheric psychological thriller that is told through the intertwined fates of two women. While the mystery keeps viewers guessing with steady, well-earned twists, the drama’s true strength lies in its character work. The narrative keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. It could be shorter in length but overall, it is a haunting, character-driven thriller that balances a compelling mystery with layered storytelling and powerhouse performances.
