Well, we have a major casting change this week as Baek Jin Hee quit highly anticipated sageuk Six Flying Dragons which boasts power packed cast consisting of Kim Myung Min, Yoo Ah In, Byun Yo Han, Jung Yumi, Yoon Kyun Sang and Chun Ho Jin. I’m not particularly sad about this news as I haven’t seen her in anything so I’m totally indifferent towards it. The new leading lady to join the historical drama is Shin Se Kyung and if this was before I watched Girl Who Sees Smells, I would have been vexed but now that she has won my affections after her lovely turn in this drama, I think I’m okay with her casting. Of course the role would be remarkably serious this time but now that my initial coldness has disappeared, I’m no more sad with her addition to a project. This will reunite her with the team of Tree With Deep Roots and Queen Seon Deok (in which she played teenage counterpart to Park Ye Jin) and I’ve heard she did a great job in those shows. Well, the long and short of it is that I’m seeing this in a positive light.
Six Flying Dragons is about the founding and shaping of Joseon dynasty with Kim Myung Min playing the historical figure Jung Do Jeon who was one of the most powerful scholars and politicians and a close advisor to king Taejo (Chun Ho Jin). Yoo Ah In takes up the role of King Taejong but in the period when he was young prince Yi Bang Won. Both of them will be at loggerheads as they have conflicting views about the direction of government and kingdom. Shin Se Kyung will star as Yoo Ah In’s love interest, and a righteous woman who fights against injustice. Byun Yo Han plays Kim Myung Min’s bodyguard and will form a love triangle with him and Jung Yoo Mi — okay, this made me laugh, as I can’t imagine a love triangle with these three! Anyway, he will also be Shin Se Kyung’s brother. Yoon Kyun Sang, of Pinocchio fame, is bodyguard to Yoo Ah In’s character.
This big budget drama will air on SBS from September. Well, there is an additional note: Six Flying Dragons will see the reunion between Yoo Ah In and Shin Se Kyung as they starred opposite each other in Fashion King, the drama that should not be named and remembered. *sawryyyy* *wink*
Me too. She’s won my affection with TGWSS, but this is about the founding and shaping of the Joseon dynasty…….I have a feeling her role won’t be about being fun and bubbly…. Goodness, can SSK deliver for an historical drama? I’m a bit worried here. I don’t worry about Yoo Ah In though, he’s a very good actor… although Fashion King really sucked LOL!!!!!! He did a terrific job in Sungkyunkwan Scandal.
From what I’ve heard, she can….but it was Fashion King that really made me dislike her acting…she was so cold and boring. Of course TGWSS changed everything but now that this will be another serious role, will it mean I won’t like her acting again? LOL 😀
Ohhhh…Yoo Ah In in SKKS….swooooooon ♥ ♥
She also won my heart because of TGWSS! Too bad I dont really watch historical drama, so perhaps I will let this one go…
Oh I have the same dilemma brightsept…..I liked her a lot..and this cast is simply awesome…but I don’t like these kind of serious sageuks…
