There is a new trend in dramaland which is growing like mushroom — the web-dramas. I can see the appeal they may have — shorter length which guarantees less commitment and time from the viewer, a cute and fan-servicey kind of plot which is equal to a standard rom-com minus all angst and unnecessary side trajectories. Also, many new up and coming actors and idols find it an easier launching pad for the acting field that doesn’t require much gravitas. Anyway, as far as my personal opinion is concerned, I’m really not into web-dramas as they don’t look like a complete package to me and more like something to milk the popularity of its stars or the trend without anything of weight or worth in them.
Eating Existence is upcoming web-drama that will be broadcast on NAVER tvcast and has No Min Woo (My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho) and Ahn Young Mi (The Family Is Coming) in the lead roles.and is about the sampo generation. It’s a new term coined for the individuals who have given up courtship, marriage and child-birth under the pressure of social and economic conditions. Well, the main plot does sound different and serious but the stills and poster do hint of it being a light-hearted take on the subject. I wonder where eating habits fit in here.
Eating Existence will start from November 12 with a 10 episode run and air on Thursdays.
