Finally we will see Jang Hyuk in a modern role! Yay! I first saw him in movie Please Teach Me English but it was Fated To Love You that made me like him so very much. He followed that role with back to back sageuks in Shine or Go Crazy and God of Trade – Innkeeper 2015.
Beautiful Mind is the upcoming KBS medical mystery which was in planning stage for a long time. It struggled to lock a lead as many actors were in talks like Kim Soo Hyun, Yoo Ah In, Lee Jong Suk and Choi Jin Hyuk when the show was being called Dr. Frankentstein. Anyway, now we have a confirmed cast with Jang Hyuk playing brilliant neurosurgeon who does not feel any emotion or empathy due to some brain injury. His patients start dying mysteriously and the drama is about solving this case as well as changing of the hero as he falls in love. Park So Dam is the leading lady and although I never imagined them together, I’m excited for this pair as it’s totally unexpected. I have seen her in Because It’s The First Time and she was cute there. The actress has made a name for herslef through films but we drama fans doesn’t know her that well as Because It’s The First Time was her first small screen project. She is also filming another fully pre-produced drama Cinderella And the Four Knights.
The other cast members are Yoon Hyun Min (Falling For Innocence) as the villain and Park Se Young (Feel-Good Day) as a smart neurosurgery fellow. Both the actors are actually reuniting here after working together in hit weekender My Daughter, Geum Sa Wol where he was the main lead but she played the second lead. I like both of them and I hope there is more potential in their characters than playing the stereotypical negative second leads.
Beautiful Mind comes from the writer of Sungkyunkwan Scandal and PD of Dream High 2. I’m intrigued by the plot as suspense thrillers have always been my favorites. I just hope the drama is not a mess. It plans to air from June and will follow 4 episode show Baek Hee Has Returned which itself follows Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho in the Monday-Tuesday slot.
Glad things finally lined up with this. Another doctor premise, but this one has me interested because of the mystery thriller aspect. Plus Jang Hyuk 🙂
Same here…medical dramas are usually boring…but the mystery and thriller aspect is what I’m looking forward to. Of course, Jang Hyuk is a plus!
I really don’t Park So Dam and I, too, can’t imagine them together! But yay for oppa! It’s about time he’s back into modern role!
Haha…yes…love that he is back in a modern role. Hopefully they will have good chemistry!
