OCN is a network known for giving us dark and gritty thrillers one after the other — Bad Guys, Vampire ProsecutorSpecial Affairs Team TEN, Neighborhood Hero etc — and now it’s bringing a new show to add in this list. The show is titled Voice and stars Jang Hyuk and Lee Ha Na in the lead roles. I’m really happy to see Jang Hyuk in this drama as this will be new for me to see him in a modern, serious thriller after watching him in rom-com Fated To Love You and just few glimpses of sageuks Shine Or Go Crazy and God Of Trade — Innkeeper 2015. I do want to see last year’s Beautiful Mind but then that role and genre was also quite different from that in Voice. Also, it’a a cable drama, another refreshing factor to see him in it. I have seen Lee Ha Na in High School King Of Savvy where she perfectly played her character.

Voice stars Lee Ha Na as a voice profiler who has an extraordinary sense of detecting sounds. She works at an emergency call centre and forms a team of detectives and experts to save victims — Jang Hyuk as an ex-violent crime detective, Baek Sung Hyun (Big, Doctors — love him!) as another detective and our hero’s old colleague, Son Eun Soo (Let’s Fight Ghost) as a woman who can speak five types of languages, Yesung (of Kpop group Super Junior) and Kwon Hyung Joon (Punch) form this Golden Time Team along with our heroine.

Our two leading protagonists also share a tragic past — the serial killer who killed his wife also killed her father and is not caught yet. The posters and teasers promise a chilling, heart-racing thriller and I’m planning to check this one out.

Voice comes from the writer of shows like I Am Legend and Save The Last Dance For Me, while directed by the PD of thrillers like Liar Game (yay!) and Pied Piper. It premieres today as the new weekend drama for OCN.
