Byun Yo Han, Kdrama, Kim Tae Ri, Korean drama, Korean Movie, Lee Byung Hun, Mr. Sunshine, tvN, Yoo Yeon Seok
Well, tvN wins the race! The highly buzzed drama Mr. Sunshine has landed a slot on the cable network which looks like the hub for all highly anticipated dramas. So not really a surprise. The drama being written by Kim Eun Sook, the star writer of Goblin and Descendants Of The Sun and helmed by the same PD Lee Eung Bok, plus recruiting the top-notch
cast of Lee Byung Hun, Kim Tae Ri, Byun Yo Han and Yoo Yeon Seok is garnering attention since the day it was announced. Descendants Of The Sun was aired on KBS and Goblin was on tvN, the two proved to be among the most successful dramas of 2016. So it is no surprise that every TV channel must be vying for securing the rights for Mr. Sunshine as it has superhit written all over it.
Set in the early 20th century, Mr. Sunshine follows the life of a soldier who was born in Korea but taken to United States after 1871 expedition. He later comes back and falls in love with a girl from an aristocratic family. Lee Byung Hun was last seen on small screen in 2009 in the mega hit IRIS, while Kim Tae Ri is taking up her first TV show role (she did have a cameo in last year’s Entourage). Yoo Yeon Seok gave hit Romantic Teacher Doctor Kim (2016) while Byun Yo Han starred in well received long sageuk Six Flying Dragons (2015-2016).
Mr. Sunshine has yet to announce final dates when it hits the airwaves but it will air on Saturdays and Sundays, the slot that recently aired Forest Of Secrets and is currently showing Live Up To Your Name.
I probably won’t be watching this either. Me and KES dramas don’t agree, LOL! I always try… but drop them after couple of episodes. Doubt I’ll ever understand what’s the draw. *shrug*
Hehe. I did like Secret Garden and Goblin..because of humour and bromance. Heirs was a case where I enjoyed it while it aired becoz it had LMH and PSH, even if I knew it was a bad drama.
But i can understand if you don’t like her shows. It’s mostly much ado about nothing. Romance is very superficial in her shows.
I’ll give this one a try…definitely not something I’m super excited for!
