A webdrama called Hip Hop Teacher is arriving on JTBC (and Naver TV Cast) that sounds like a breath of fresh sir. A musical set in a school, it’s a comedy drama which tells about a music teacher at an elementary school who was an underground hip hop artist. Now bored of the mundane life, she starts a hip hop project for bringing some
fun. The lead role is played by Lee Joo Young, who was last seen in a supporting role in dearly loved drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. The drama also stars Yoo Ra as a new English teacher in the same school. Yoo Ra is a singer from Kpop group Girl’s Day who has acted in a few shows like After The Show Ends (tvN), Dodohara (SBS Plus), etc which have remained pretty low-key and under the radar. Ahn Woo Yeon of Circle and Strong Woman Do Bong Soon fame costars. The story also reminds me of 2003 movie School Of Rock. If done well, Hip Hop Teacher can be a cornucopia of warmth, fun and inspiration.
JTBC has lined up many short dramas in the form of these webdramas to give chance to new talents and plots. Hip Hop Teacher kicks off tomorrow with 15 minute long 10 episodes airing from Monday to Friday. A bonus of these webdramas is that they require very less commitment.
