This week is seriously flooded with dramas! Monday saw 3 premieres and now we have a brand new show starting tomorrow in the Wednesday-Thursday slot of MBC. Time is a romantic melodrama which can be well placed among makjang weekenders, right from its plot to posters featuring the cast in intense, serious and dark mood. It stars Seohyun (of kpop group Girl’s Generation aka SNSD who has acted in shows like Bad Thief, Good Thief and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo) as a bright and optimistic woman who aspires to become a chef. She is the breadwinner of her family. Kim Jung Hyun (School 2017, Laughter In Waikiki) plays a cold, arrogant son of a rich family that owns W group and he looks after their restaurant subsidiary. Second leads include Kim Joo Han (Smart Prison Living, movies The Battleship Island and Confidential Assignment) as Seohyun’s boyfriend who is also the attorney of the legal team of W Group and Hwang Seung Eon (I’m Not A Robot) as our hero’s fiance and heir of another powerful family owning Taeyang Group.
The basic premise tells that Time is about a man who is living his last days and how he helps a woman whose life he ruined with every possible means. It surely sounds like a tear-jerker mixed with heavy emotions. I’m curious about the main story though with respect to how the two leads get connected. Time comes from the writer of similarly themed Mask and Secret but they had addicting and thrilling elements so hopefully Time will deliver on the same lines. The PD has done shows like Miss Ripley, Mom and Hotel King.
