I don’t know why the new KBS drama The Ghost Detective seems relatively low buzzed but I’m interested in checking it out. It is a horror thriller with an intriguing premise and I also like the actors a lot, so yes, count me in!

As the name suggests, Daniel Choi plays the titular detective who catches ghosts. Park Eun Bin plays his assistant and Lee Ji Ah stars as a mysterious woman who appears everywhere when the duo is working on a bizarre case. We have mostly seen Daniel Choi with his spectacles in recent roles (School 2013, Big Man, Jugglers) with an easy-going vibe, so it’s refreshing to see him in this new rough and tough, plus scruffy look. Park Eun Bin is always awesome, last seen in Age Of Youth 2 and Nothing to Lose. Lee Ji Ah did My Ajusshi not long ago; she is the only actor I’m not acquainted with. The posters give creepy and atmospheric aura and I really hope for the drama to offer a thrilling and chilling ride.

The Ghost Detective starts its broadcast from September 5, slotted for Wednesdays and Thursdays. The direction is by the PD of Chief Kim and story is by the writer of Wanted. This is not the first time we will be seeing ghost seers in dramaland, with shows like Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo-yong, Bring It On, Ghost, Master’s Sun, Arang and the Magistrate, Oh My Ghostess, entertaining us in the past to varying degrees and emotions. Let’s see what fresh element this drama brings to the table.
