Ratings are disappointingly low for most of the current crop of dramas, including MBC’s Risky Romance that wrapped up last week. But hope is a good thing and thus, with every new drama premiere, one hopes for better results. Bad Papa is the title of the follow-up show in the Monday-Tuesday slot of the network and it is headlined by Jang Hyuk, who is working continuously back to back, having appeared in dramas Wok Of Love and Money Flower not too long ago. He plays a former top boxer who falls from grace after an unexpected defeat and loses everything — fame, money and family. Son Yeo Eun (Defendant, Suits) plays his wife who aspired to become a screenwriter but then had to give up her dream after her husband’s defeat and thus, responsibility of raising the child. Their daughter is played by Shin Eun Soo (she played Jeon Ji Hyun‘s teenage counterpart in Legend Of The Blue Sea). The drama will be about how the hero turns into a bad person in order to be a good father.

The story surely sounds like an emotional and heartwarming journey of struggles and relationships. It is also a new kind of role for Jang Hyuk. The drama also stars Ha Joon of Radio Romance fame.
