Song Joong Ki is soon appearing on drama Vincenzo but we will be able to see him before that in the sci-fi movie Space Sweepers. As the name suggests, it is based in space in the year 2092. The Victory is the name of a spaceship that collects space junk. Song Joong Ki plays its pilot while Kim Tae Ri (Mr. Sunshine) plays the captain and leader. Jin Seon Kyu (Kingdom) stars as the engineer and Yoo Hae Jin (The Pirates) plays a robot, the character coming to life using motion capture technology.
Space Sweepers was originally slated to release in the summer of 2020 but its release got repeatedly postponed due to COVID-19. The movie is now premiering on Netflix on February 5.
The film reunites Song Joong Ki with the director of his 2012 movie A Werewolf Boy, Jo Sung Hee, whose other credits include Phantom Detective (2016) and Don’t Step Out of the House (2009). Space Sweepers looks like a fun-filled and adventurous journey and as it’s airing on Netflix, it becomes so easy to give this one a try. The other recent Korean movie releases on the platform include The Call and #Alive.
