I’m super excited for upcoming Netflix Kdrama Can This Love Be Translated! There are quite a few reasons for that: it stars two of my favorite actors, Kim Seon Ho (Hometown Cha Cha Cha) and Go Youn Jung (Moving), it’s written by the Hong Sisters (Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, You’re Beautiful, The Greatest Love) and it’s a contemporary rom-com.

Hong Sisters dramas are known to be classics of Korean dramaland (see above examples) but their recent shows were underwhelming (Big, A Korean Odyssey, Warm And Cozy) and were really disappointing. But the writer duo brought their magic back again with their latest drama, Alchemy Of Souls. I’m also glad that Can This Love Be Translated is a romantic comedy without any fantasy elements as their last few shows have all been fantasy.

Can This Love Be Translated stars Go Youn Jung as a lively and confident top star and Kim Seon Ho as a multilingual interpreter fluent in English, Japanese, Italian, and more languages. He helps the actress in her foreign language interviews. Their personality difference leads them to bicker and as expected, they fall in love along the way. The drama also stars Japanese actor Fukushi Sota (Koinaka), Choi Woo Sung (Chief Detective 1958) and Lee Yi Dam (Daily Dose Of Sunshine).

Can This Love Be Translated plans to premiere in 2025 on Netflix.
