I’m totally stoked for upcoming Netflix drama The Trunk: it’s led by a solid cast — Gong Yoo (Goblin) and Seo Hyun Jin (Why Her?), psychological thriller plot and a contract marriage trope but with grey shades.

The Trunk is based on a 2015 novel and it is about a woman (played by Seo Hyun Jin) who is an employee of a contract marriage agency called NM (New Marriage). She is lonely despite (or because of) having a new husband every year because of the contract marriages. Gong Yoo plays a man who uses the services of this agency to undergo a contract marriage in order to save his previous marriage. His ex-wife is played by Jung Yun Ha (Exhuma). The title of the drama comes from the appearance of a mysterious trunk that is present at the core of this story.

Lee Jung Eun (Parasite) stars as nosy next door neighbor of the female lead. Uhm Ji Won (Little Women) stars as CEO of NM. Lee Ki Woo (My Liberation Notes) plays female lead’s first husband. Choi Young Joon (Our Blues) stars as a detective investigating a murder case.

The cameos in the drama are a bonus as Cha Seung Won (Best Love) and Jung Kyung Ho (Crash Course In Romance) have special appearance in the show.

The Trunk premieres tomorrow on Netflix with a crisp length of 8 episodes.
