Now that we have secured the leads for the upcoming romance sageuk Sword And Flower in the form of Uhm Tae Woong (The Equator Man) and Kim Ok Bin (The Front Line), we are moving towards other cast additions. Kpop group CN Blue‘s Lee Jung Shin has been cast in the drama as the second lead and he will play the bodyguard to our heroine. The drama tells the story of Princess Mu-young (Kim Ok Bin), who falls in love with Yeon Choong (Uhm Tae Woong), the illegitimate son of her father’s murderer.
Lee Jung Shin will play an excellent swordsman, who guards the princess and has been in love with her all his life. The character is described as charismatic in fights, but a hopeless romantic when it comes to love. Lee Jung Shin’s last drama was the top rated My Daughter Seo Young, which I haven’t seen of course. The role sounds the typical second lead one, but we all need them in every drama, right?
Sword And Flower will follow Mandate Of Heaven on KBS from July and it is being directed by the PD who did The Equator Man and is written by the same writer who did dramas like Mom Is Pretty Too and When Spring Comes. It will be set in the Goguryeo era. The show also stars Park Soo Jin (Flower Boy Next Door) as the second female lead.
