It always bewilders me how more and more dramas keep coming every new season after the two-month older ones complete their turn and bid goodbye. We are here, trying to manage as many shows as we can with indirect proportion to time but dramaland is so indifferent that it keeps on churning out more and more and more, ready or not. Anyway, here is a list of some of the interesting dramas to be premiered this month of February. I’m actually excited for most of them for different reasons. I’m going to take pot luck with all of them and let’s hope they all would turn out to be good!
Cunning Single Lady
Date: 26 February (not final). It follows Miss Korea.
On: MBC
Stars: Lee Min Jung, Joo Sang Wook.
About: A woman who seduces her ex husband after he becomes a rich chaebol but he has his own plans as he wants to take revenge from her for divorcing and leaving him during his struggling days.
My Opinion: I love light and funny rom-coms and the concept looks delightful and exhilarating with a refreshingly unlikeable heroine. Second chances in love is present in abundance in dramaland so this one surely looks good and the pairing is fresh as mint.
Full Sun
Date: 17 February 2014
On: KBS
Stars: Yoon Kye Sang, Han Ji Hye.
About: A melodrama about a man who accidentally causes the death of a man and later falls in love with his fiancee.
My Opinion: I’m in a mood for a nice, entertaining melodrama and this one looks gorgeously shot. Also, it doesn’t contain those melo characteristics that I love to hate. Plus, Yoon Kye Sang ♥
Wonderful Days
Date: 22 February 2014
On: KBS
Stars: Kim Hee Sun, Lee Seo Jin, Taecyeon
About: A prosecutor who came from poor background and returns to his hometown after many years, reconnecting and understanding the meaning of family, love and friendship.
My Opinion: Looks heartwarming but watching a loooooong weekend drama is more tiring than running on a treadmill for 24 hours!
God’s Gift – 14 Days
Date: 17 February (not sure). It follows Warm Words.
On: SBS
Stars: Lee Bo Young, Jo Seung Woo, Kim Tae Woo
About: A mother goes back in time to save her daughter who has been kidnapped and murdered. She only has two weeks for it.
My Opinion: Looks intriguing with all the ingredients of a nail-biting thriller of race against time as well as an emotional touch to make it compelling.
Three Days
Date: End of February or March first week. It follows You From Another Star.
On: SBS
Stars: Yoochun, Son Hyun Joo, Park Ha Sun, So Yi Hyun, Yoon Je Moon.
About: A presidential bodyguard’s quest to search the missing president.
My Opinion: Lots of solid actors and a perfect thriller material. And it also has one of my favorites Park Ha Sun.
Cheo Yong
Date: 9 February
On: OCN
Stars: Oh Ji Ho, Oh Ji Eun, Jun Hyo Sung
About: A disinterested district cop (who was formerly an elite detective but a tragedy made him indifferent) can see ghosts from the day he was born. He talks to the spirit of a high school girl one day that brings him back to action. He starts solving cases with a fellow female detective.
My Opinion: The drama is attractive due to its mystery-horror premise and looks scarier than the other earlier shows on ghost seers. Not to mention it has only 10 episodes with one episode a week. A fair deal!
Bride of the Century
Date: 22 February
On: TV Chosun
Stars: Lee Hong Ki, Yang Jin Sung
About: A curse surrounding a rich family which dictates that the first brides of the eldest sons all die.
My Opinion: The jury is still out on this one. From what I’ve read about it so far, it gives me the vibes of a fantasy makjang *gasp…if that’s even possible!
I’m going to watch Bride of the Century because Hongki hasn’t done a drama in forever! And also Full Sun and God’s Gift. I think God’s Gift is an interesting idea, and Full Sun sounds like every other melodrama ever, lol, but I’ll watch it anyway. I’m hoping it’s more like Secret and less like Nice Guy.
I loved LHK in You’re Beautiful….and was so looking forward to his next project…but I don’t know…I read the detailed synopsis and it was kind of confusing….let’s hope it’s good…
LOL…I didn’t see Secret…so yeah…I hope it’s better than Nice Guy because I couldn’t get behind the love story in it…
