First script reading for star-studded ‘Producer’

With all confirmations in, Producer is shaping up to be the most anticipated and star-studded drama in the upcoming bunch. Cha Tae Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin, Kim Soo Hyun and IU star in this show about behind the scene happenings of variety land. Personally I’m not at all a variety or reality show fan but I’m all in for some drama-behind-drama shenanigans! The drama held script reading a few days back and the atmosphere looks filled with laughs and synergy. I hope it transfers to the screen as well. Cha Tae Hyun and Gong Hyo Jin star as veteran variety PDs while Kim Soo Hyun is a rookie who left his prosecutor ambition to join showbiz because of his first love, played by Jo Yoon Hee in a cameo role. IU is playing a top star but icy cold persona. Singer and variety show star Kim Jong Kook stars as another PD. This will mark his first acting role. There are a few bullet points tucked in with this drama description that add to my enthusiasm for it, as if the cast was not enough to look forward to it. Firstly, it is slated to be a 12 episode drama — which is as extinct as dinosaurs in K-dramaland, especially now when 20+ is the new 16. Next, real life friends Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Jong Kook as senior and junior! Wow. That would be absolutely fun from meta-jokes perspective. Then there is the team which belongs to variety department rather than drama department, which can be a hit or miss, but surely something fresh. Producer comes from the writer of mega hit You From Another Star and will be directed by the variety PD of shows like Superman Returns and 1 Night 2 Days. KBS will broadcast it in a new slot of Fridays and Saturdays from May.

!2 episodes? Wow, that is something different. I am a big Gong Hyo Jin fan but like you, not big into variety show except for the occasional Running Man. Looking forward to this power casting.

Yes…there are only 12 eps. But from the latest news that I read, it is supposed to have each of 90 min length! Huh..what’s the point then.
I love Gong Hyo Jin…such an effortless performer. I haven’t seen even Running Man. Haha…but I’m so looking forward to this. 🙂
