KBS has accomplished an impressive task by bringing all powerhouse actors together for its upcoming political drama Assembly. The most surprising is the casting of Jung Jae Young, a well-known movie actor who will make his drama debut after having a successful movie career for more than 20 years. Wow, it’s really wonderful! I always love it when stars appear on small screen after a long hiatus and here we are talking about his first drama ever. Some of the names in his filmography include Someone Special, Welcome to Dongmakgol, Castaway on the Moon, Moss and latest The Fatal Encounter. Song Yoon Ah (Mama) has been confirmed as his female lead. Assembly will revolve around the National Assembly and its workings. Jung Jae Young stars as a welder in a shipyard who gets elected to the National Assembly. He is a righteous man who is full of ideals and it will be his journey through the political sphere. Song Yoon Ah plays his aide who is a smart and intelligent lady. Kpop group 2PM’s Taecyeon plays a student preparing for civil service exam and Kim Seo Hyung (A New Leaf) has taken the role of a former lawyer who also gets elected as member of National Assembly. Jang Hyun Sung will play a politician who is against our hero.
I’m not sure about myself watching this drama because politics is not my favourite genre. But this cast looks too marvellous to skip this drama. Also if they add thriller element to it, then it will be a sure shot thing for me to check this drama out. Let’s see how everything goes. Assembly comes from the PD of Myung Wol The Spy and writer of hit long sageuk Jeong Do Jeon. The cast gathered for script reading a few days back and the drama also released first stills featuring leading lady Song Yoon Ah.
Assembly is slated to start in July following the conclusion of Masked Prosecutor in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.
