Jo Jung Suk just had a great comeback on small screen, with his drama Oh My Ghostess winning hearts and ratings across the board. Hot on the heels of that show, he has confirmed a movie titled Hyung as his next project. The movie also stars D.O. of pop group EXO, who showed his talent in acting last year with It’s Okay, It’s Love.
The two stars will play brothers with Jo Jung Suk playing the older brother (natch) or titular hyung (Korean word for older brother), who is sentenced for committing fraud and spends many years in prison. D.O. is the younger brother who is a star judo athlete but he gets injured before a very important competition. The timing happens to be the one when the older brother returns home after all these years. Hyung will be about the trials and tribulations the two face together. I’m expecting lots of warmth, tears, inspiration and smiles with a perfect bromance to make this film a must-watch. Meanwhile, Park Shin Hye (You’re Beautiful, Heirs) is in talks to play a role in the movie. Some reports say she has confirmed while the others say that she is still considering. So take this with a grain of salt.
Hyung will be directed by Kwon Soo Kyung (Barefoot Kibong) and written by the writer of another emotional film Miracle Of Cell No.7, which went on to become a blockbuster hit at the box office.
The movie starts shooting in October and plans a release next year. I’m usually a drama watcher but it’s possible that my love for Jo Jung Suk and the premise might make me watch Hyung after all.
