It’s that time of the drama timetable again, when the screens are flooded with dramas and more dramas and it becomes a herculean task to choose and accommodate them in our schedule. So if you are enticed by every show on the list, be prepared to burn the candle at both ends. I hope this list will at least help in the clarification of what dramas are going to start this October and so here we go!
Six Flying Dragons
On: SBS
From: 5 October
Slot: Monday-Tuesday
Stars: Kim Myung Min, Yoo Ah In, Shin Se Kyung, Byun Yo Han
About: A sageuk about the politics and power play at the dawn of the establishment of Joseon Dynasty.
My Opinion: Normally I wouldn’t even give a second to decide if I wanted to watch a 50 episode sageuk with the premise of political struggle. But then the makers give me this cast and it becomes a no-brainer decision for me to watch this.
Sassy Go, Go
On: KBS
From: 5 October
Slot: Monday-Tuesday
Stars: Jung Eun Ji, Ji Soo, Lee Won Geun
About: A high school drama about the mixing of dance club and the cheerleading club which consist of a mix of top students and the rest of the bunch.
My Opinion: I’m so excited for enjoying some fluff and cuteness set in a high school. And Ji Soo ♥ It also helps that the drama is headlined by sparkling Jung Eun Ji.
Glamorous Temptation
On: MBC
From: 5 October
Slot: Monday-Tuesday
Stars: Choi Kang Hee, Joo Sang Wook
About: A melodrama about two lovers who get separated after experiencing teenage love.
My Opinion: This drama looks like a pastiche of all other romantic melodramas that have been arriving at our screens from many years. So yeah, I’m as eager for this as I would be to watch clothes getting rotated in a washing machine.
The Village: Achiara’s Secret
On: SBS
From: 7 October
Slot: Wednesday-Thursday
Stars: Moon Geun Young, Yook Sung Jae, Ohn Joo Wan, Shin Eun Kyung
About: A mystery thriller about a peaceful village that maybe hiding many skeletons in its closet.
My Opinion: Oooh. Eerie, chilling, thrilling, atmospheric, mysterious — how can you go wrong with the combination of these words?
Awl
On: JTBC
From: 23 October
Slot: Friday-Saturday
Stars: Ji Hyun Woo, Ahn Nae Sang, Kim Ga Eun
About: The average workers of a retail store who fight against the corporation for the unfair laying off of employees.
My Opinion: This show has certainly not created much buzz but can definitely become this year’s Misaeng. The story of a common man and the look of the drama are absolutely like that gem.
Bubblegum
On: tvN
From: 26 October
Slot: Monday-Tuesday
Stars: Jung Ryu Won, Lee Dong Wook, Lee Jong Hyuk
About: A rom-com set in a radio broadcast station as well as a hospital and how the characters heal each other and find love.
My Opinion: Sounds like your run-of-the-mill rom-com but the stars are what making me super-enthusiastic for this one. Also, I’m always ready for a healthy dose of romance and comedy combination. So this is so my cup of tea. Plus, tvN.
Because It’s The First Time
On: OnStyle
From: 7 October
Slot: Wednesday
Stars: Choi Min Ho, Park So Dam, Kim Min Jae, Lee Yi Kyung, Cho Hye Jung, Jung Yoo Jin
About: A youthful romantic comedy involving a motley of characters and actors.
My Opinion: Another rom-com in the list! I always love the movies and shows that involve multiple love stories and I really like Minho, so yes, I can’t wait for this one. It’s also easy to fit in my schedule as it will air once a week.
Six Flying Dragons. It’s one of those shows that I want to watch for that cast, I really do, but I can’t do it to myself. However, if the first few weeks have my Twitter peeps raving about it, and it turns out to be funny and sweet, than I might change my mind. I can sit through the politics if I have a nice romance or bromance to look forward to.
Sassy Go Go. Everything about it is a Yes. Yes yes yes. Can’t wait.
Glamorous Temptation. I feel the same as you about that one as well.
The Village. I’m going to watch it but it could easily be so bad that we drop it halfway through. I’m gonna give it a good chance though.
Awl. Another show that I’ll wait and see what Twitter says before starting it.
Bubblegum. I will always watch a TvN romcom. Even if it’s not the greatest show you’ll ever see, it will generally be worth your time anyway.
Because It’s the First Time. Is this the first drama OnStyle has created? Isn’t that a fashion channel or something? So I’m curious about this one. If it’s only once a week, I’ll probably check it out. If it’s cable, it’ll probably only be 45 minute episodes as well. Plus, you can never be watching too many romcoms.
hey Caitlyn! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Yes, Onstyle is a fashion channel and this is there first venture into drama series. I hope this one delivers but I’m so there with you — “you can never be watching too many romcoms”
tvN is one of my favorite channels and it does romcoms so well…definitely a plus for me.
Even I’ll wait for the reviews before starting Awl.
Can’t wait for Sassy Go, Go. I’m surprised at my excitement though as it was not even in my radar before but with this cast, I’m in.
I think I can manage Six Flying Dragons but it’s really difficult to watch so many shows…let’s see…I’m super excited for The Village and fingers are crossed!
I’m definitely in for Bubblegum and The Village. I’ll see how things progress with Sassy Go Go and Awl. They both sound promising, and I hope they do well.
I have same level of excitement for Bubblegum, The Village and Sassy Go go for varying reasons. Six Flying Dragons looks like a difficult task (length and so many dramas!)…let’s see which one meets our expectations 🙂
Looking forward to all of these but not sure which ones (besides YAI) that I will faithfully watch week to week.
It’s better to watch some live and keep others for later marathon.
