Another show to premiere last week but with comparatively less buzz was Come Back, Ajusshi. I wanted to check it out because of the great cast ensemble and Rain. Sadly the ratings have dropped this week and that’s because of the strong competitor in the form of Descendants Of The Sun. Anyway, the drama made good first impression on me with a side of some things that I did not enjoy.

Come Back, Ajusshi told the story of its main characters, Kim Young Soo (Kim In Kwon) and Han Gi Tak (Kim Soo Ro) in the first episode. The former is a dedicated store employee with a wife Shin Da Hye (Lee Min Jung) and a daughter. He is a workaholic and doesn’t give much time and attention to his family. He does love them though. Due to some work complications and family issues, he feels sick and then accidentally falls down from a building and dies. Gi Tak is a gangster and restaurant owner whose first love was Song Yi Yeon (Honey Lee). She got married and divorced with Cha Jae Gook (Choi Won Young). He gets into accident and dies when helping her to solve some scandal she gets trapped in. Both men meet Maya (Ra Mi Ran) after their death and get a chance to go to heaven but they jump from the train that is taking them to heaven. Now they get a chance to go back to earth for two months and finish their work. Young Soo comes back as Rain and Gi Tak comes back as a woman, played by Oh Yeon Seo.

I really enjoyed the show which was very, very hilarious and made me laugh out loud at many places. There is heart and humour and a large number of characters. The show has got many actors who are pure comic gold — Kim In Kwon, Kim Soo Ro, Ra Mi Ran, Rain and Oh Yeon Seo. I loved the funny shenanigans when the two men came back to earth. Especially their interactions with reaper Maya. I do have a problem with the fact that Rain and Oh Yeon Seo are not playing some original persons who got possessed. As it decreases their worth as separate characters. They are just representing an extended version of Kim In Kwon and Kim Soo Ro’s characters. Yes, there is a doppelgänger for Rain but I don’t think he is going to come back anytime soon after Maya stopped him.

Also, there are plenty of flashback scenes that we have already seen and that made me feel so bored. Also, over-melodrama in Gi Tak and Yi Yeon’s plot is another annoying thing. I hope that gets decreased with time. I love that this show has two of my favorite characters from High School King Of SavvySeo In Guk‘s besties in the form of Lee Tae Hwan and Kang Ki Young.

Overall, a funny show with interesting characters.
