A Japanese drama remake titled This Week, My Wife Will Have an Affair just premiered this weekend (yesterday) on JTBC and stars Lee Sun Kyun and Song Ji Hyo (The Ex-Girlfriend’s Club) in the lead roles. I think this show had relatively less buzz in its promotion but the plot sounds interesting. It’s great to see Lee Sun Kyun making a drama comeback as his last show was Miss Korea in 2013-14.
The story is about a man who suspects that his wife is having an affair. Lee Sun Kyun plays the husband who is a PD while Song Ji Hyo plays the wife — a pretty and smart graphic design team leader and a supermom. We also have two other couples — Lee Sang Yeob (Nice Guy) and BoA (Kpop singer) play a PD and writer respectively. Then there is the pairing of Ye Ji Won (The Producers) and Kim Hee Won (Misaeng) who are our main couple’s best friends.
I was not much interested in the show before as although I like many actors here, I’m indifferent towards Song Ji Hyo. But the story sounds good and I love dramas or movies with multiple couples. Also, we have something refreshing as we see lives of married couples for a change with main focus on them. As stated above, This Week, My Wife Will Have an Affair is based on 2007 Jdrama Konshu Tsuma ga Uwaki Shimasu and directed by the PD of Awl and I Live In Cheongdamdong. It airs on Fridays and Saturdays on JTBC.
