New weekend drama alert! It’s a melodrama this time for SBS as it brings Unni Is Alive (or Sister Is Alive) on 15th of April. The show is about three women and their love, success and friendship. They have all seen loss and they will try to heal their life by raising a little girl. Sounds uplifting and inspiring.
The lead trio consists of Kim Joo Hyun (Modern Farmer) as a stationery store worker, Jang So Hee (Temptation Of Wife) as a has-been popular actress and Oh Yoon Ah (Incarnation Of Money — this looks like a rare positive role for her) as a former secretary in a large firm who presently wants to focus on her daughter. The show also stars Lee Ji Hoon (Legend Of The Blue Sea) as a man who grew up in an orphanage and Kpop group SISTAR‘s Dasom (Melody of Love) as a girl who sounds a mixed bag but mostly like a negative character who might turn positive along the way — she is charming and intelligent but is also a liar and hates being poor.
Unni Is Alive comes from the writer of My Daughter Geum Sa Wol, Jang Bo Ri Is Here and Five Fingers — all melodrama-makjang packages. So we can expect the similar tone here as well. The direction is by the PD of Second To Last Love and High Society. It premieres on April 15 and will air on Saturdays with two back to back episodes.
