Wohoo! I absolutely loved Choi Si Won in gem King Of Dramas (2012) and adored him as the ebullient second lead in She Was Pretty, which was his last acting project before going for his mandatory military service in 2015. And now he is back and I’m tickled pink with his comeback drama as it’s pure romantic comedy and stars marvellous Kang So Ra as his leading lady. The channel is tvN and the drama will take up the slot of weekends following Live Up to Your Name from October.

Well the central premise of Revolutionary Love is not reinventing the wheel as it’s the typical rich man poor woman story. But the expectations of innovation are always limited when it comes to romcoms. It’s the leads’ chemistry and lively, fresh treatment that breathes life into them. Choi Si Won stars as a rich man who comes to live in a simple neighbourhood disguised as an unemployed man. Kang So Ra plays a woman who works as a part timer, struggling but keeping a positive attitude. The typical candy heroine! Gong Myung of Bride of the Water God 2017 costars as the head of secertarial department of the hero’s company, who is also his long time driver’s son and hence suffers from inferiority complex.

The drama is penned by the writer of 2016 JTBC comedy Ms. Temper & Nam Jung-Gi (which was her first show) and is helmed by the PD of Marriage Not Dating, Oh Hae Young Again and latest Introverted Boss, which makes me hopeful that Revolutionary Love will have the similar mixed vibe of quirky comedy and breeziness. Kang So Ra’s last drama was Neighbourhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho but from what I hear, she was underutilized in it. As for Revolutionary Love, I like the two actors a lot and I’m super excited for their pairing!
