Yay! Jo Seung Woo is back! I love that the musical actor is doing more dramas these days after acting solely in movies for many years. I have yet to see his last drama Forest Of Secrets which captivated everyone last year. Its writer is reuniting with him for new JTBC show Life, which also stars Lee Dong Wook — his first drama since getting new jolt of popularity after superhit Goblin. The PD at the helm has previously directed dramas like Dear My Friends, Deserving Of The Name and remake of The Most Beautiful Goodbye In The World. All these good reasons were necessary for me to look forward to this drama as it is a medical show, a genre I find extremely boring.

Life showcases two opposing views of our protagonists — Jo Seung Woo plays the cold director of the hospital at the core who only believes in numbers. Whereas Lee Dong Wook stars as a warm specialist at the emergency medical center. Even the posters feature them in black and white clothes. LOL. Yoo Jae Myung (Reply 1988, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon) rounds out the male cast, playing the head of the cardiothoracic center. The female cast comprises of Won Jin Ah and Moon So Ri. Won Jin Ah debuted with movies first in supporting roles (The Age of Shadows, Steel Rain) and her first drama was cherished melodrama Just Between Lovers which premiered in December last year and continued its run through January. Moon So Ri (again mostly a film actress; A Good Lawyer’s Wife, The Legend) plays a confident and charismatic head of neurosurgery.

Life hits the airwaves this Monday on July 23 following Miss Hammurabi which received good ratings during its run.
