Korean movie The Beauty Inside came out in 2015 and starred Han Hyo Joo in a fantasy romance premise where her lover is a man who changes into a different person everyday, thus emphasizing the power of true love in that the heroine loves the man no matter what his outer appearance is. The movie was laced with many cameos by actors like Lee Bum Soo, Yoo Yeon Suk, Park Shin Hye, Park Seo Joon, Go Ah Sung etc. I didn’t watch it but I’m excited about the upcoming JTBC drama which is adapting the film for small screen. Main reason is the star cast of course, Lee Min Ki (Because This Life Is Our First) and Seo Hyun Jin (Oh Hae Young Again).

The drama has changed a few things: the main character, the one whose appearance changes, is a woman this time. Also, instead of changing everyday, the drama will have her change her appearance once every month, for a week. She is a top actor with a mysterious life (for others). Lee Min Ki stars as an executive at an airline company who suffers from prosopagnosia, meaning, he can’t recognize faces. The show also stars Ahn Jae Hyun (Blood) as our heroine’s friend and a man who wants to become a priest. Lee Da Hee (Big Man, I Hear Your Voice) plays Lee Min Ki’s smart and ambitious step-sister. Lee Tae Ri (previously known by name Lee Min Ho, of dramas Rooftop Prince, Hwajung, etc.) plays Lee Min Ki’s right-hand man, who also keeps his condition a secret.

The Beauty Inside will follow currently airing Life on JTBC and is helmed by the PD of Oh Hae Young Again, Marriage Not Dating and Revolutionary Love. It recently held its first script reading.
