Kim Yoon Jin is a Korean actress who is best known for playing one of the main characters in American TV show Lost. She has also been active in Korean films (Ode To My Father, Neighbor) but it will be her first small screen drama in 19 years as she is starring in SBS drama Ms. Ma, Nemesis, which is based on Agatha Christie‘s character Miss Marple. I love the writer and Miss Marple’s low key and psychological investigation, so I’m fully on board this train, and also to see how the character gets a Korean version. The story is basically about a writer who is falsely accused of her daughter’s murder and how she escapes and proves her innocence. So my guess is that the show is not taking Miss Marple’s counterpart here but giving the heroine her characteristics and personality. Plus, I’m always excited when an actor returns to dramaland after a considerable break. Kim Yoo Jin last appeared in drama Humaneness back in 1999.
The other cast members of Ms. Ma, Nemesis are Jung Woong In (I Hear Your Voice) as a detective, pop group B1A4’s CNU as a police constable and Go Sung Hee (Suits) as a woman who introduces herself as Ms. Ma’s niece and Choi Kwang Je (The Package, Go back Spouses).
I’m less excited about the writer here whose last drama was Doctor Stranger, which was a hot mess. The drama is helmed by the PD of Ugly Alert and My First Love. Ms. Ma, Nemesis arrives on Saturday, October 6 on SBS with four 35-minute episodes airing back to back.
