The new MBC drama Item can make you misunderstand that it’s an OCN show, having all kinds of features present in the cable network dramas — thrills, mystery, spooky atmosphere, style. Joo Ji Hoon headlines this drama along with Jin Se Yeon and Kim Kang Woo in important roles. This will be back to back small screen appearances for Joo Ji Hoon as his pre-produced drama Kingdom just aired its first season on Netflix, with good reviews.

Item revolves around the secret of supernatural powers of mysterious items/objects. Horror genre is full of such scenarios, be it films, TV or novels but I guess unlike the previous offerings which mainly dealt with one particular object, Item deals with many of them in an episodic manner. Joo Ji Hoon plays a prosecutor with a warm heart. Jin Se Yeon reunites with him here as they both starred in 2012’s melodrama Five Fingers. She was last seen in sageuk Grand Prince. She plays a criminal profiler here and Kim Kang Woo (My Husband Oh Jak Doo) plays a greedy businessman, aka our main villain.

I’m looking forward to this drama, as the synopsis sounds interesting and also it comes from one of the writers of Save Me, of which I’ve heard great reviews. The direction is by the PD of Father I’ll Take Care Of You. Item starts airing from today as a Monday-Tuesday drama following another thriller Bad Detective (or Less Than Evil). It is based on a webtoon of the same name.
