I can hear the collective ‘Yay’ from the long-time fans of Korean movies and dramas across the globe! Critically acclaimed and equally popular Korean movie Parasite just created history at the Academy Awards aka Oscars. It won 4 awards including the biggest one, Best Motion Picture of the Year. ~Yayyyyyyyy~ In its 92 years of existence, this is the first time that a non-English language film has won Best Picture at the Oscars. The movie has already bagged multiple awards at various international and national awards and film festivals since the time of its release.
The other awards include Best Achievement in Directing (Bong Joon Ho), Best Original Screenplay (Bong Joon Ho, Jin Won Han) and Best International Feature Film. The film was also nominated for two other categories — Best Achievement in Production Design and Best Achievement in Film Editing.
Parasite is about two families with different socio-economic background and is a thriller/satire/drama film that gives a stark realistic picture of the society. You have to see it to know its mind-blowing experience. It’s fantastic and thought provoking. The movie also boasts an amazing acting talent — Song Kang Ho, Choi Woo Shik, Lee Sun Gyun, Jo Yeo Jeong, Park So Dam, Lee Jung Eun, Jang Hye Jin and Park Myoung Hoon (the last two actors can be seen in currently airing Crash Landing On You).
A big congratulations to the whole cast and crew! Cheers!
Yep, I was definitely thrilled to see Parasite take home the top prize 🙂 It was an excellent film with two of my favorite actors, Park So Dam and Choi Woo Shik, as well as many other amazing actors. Such a wonderful achievement for everyone involved 🙂
I’m a fan of the director! Parasite was amazing in all respects…so many actors that I have seen and like.
So happy for its win!
