Heirs was a weird case where I enjoyed it a lot while watching it because I was fangirling over Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye but I can totally understand that it was a heavily flawed drama. I also liked Park Hyun Sik (Happiness) in it, who has since shown his talent through many shows and as a main lead too. He is reuniting with Shin Hye in JTBC’s new drama — Doctor Slump and this time opposite her. I’m truly excited for this drama; I mean a rom-com that stars these two!! It’s a no-brainer decision for me to watch it. The show also marks Park Shin Hye’s comeback drama— her last show was 2021’s Sisyphus: The Myth.
As the name suggests, both the leads play doctors. They were rivals in high school. They went separate ways after high school. He became a popular plastic surgeon who suffers from a medical accident, affecting his career and life. She became a skilled anesthesiologist who becomes exhausted and feels burnt out after constant work and no enjoyment in her life. Both of them meet again at this low point in their lives and find comfort in each other’s company this time.
Costarring are Yoon Park (Delightfully Deceitful) as a single father and a plastic surgeon, Gong Sung Ha (Daily Dose Of Sunshine) as an anesthesiologist and female lead’s best friend and Oh Dong Min (The Interest Of Love) as the youngest professor in the anesthesiology department who is male lead’s friend and female lead’s senior.
I’m so glad Doctor Slump is a simple rom-com without any fantasy elements which populate the dramaland these days. It is penned by the writer of dramas like My Roommate Is A Gumiho, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? and A Poem a Day. It starts tomorrow on JTBC as well as Netflix.
