It’s a month of spin-offs! Let’s see what October premieres are gracing our screens:
Spice Up Our Love

Premiere Date: October 3
Network: TVING
Stars: Lee Sang Yi (My Demon), Han Ji Hyu (Cheer Up)
Slot: Thursday
Number Of Episodes: 2
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Comedy
Synopsis: It’s a spin-off drama of recently wrapped No Gain No Love. The writer of a steamy R-rated web novel unexpectedly finds herself transported into her own story as the female lead. There she becomes tangled in an unpredictable romance with her novel’s male lead.
Thoughts: I have just started this drama and at this point, the two leads have yet to meet. But I like them as characters already and can’t wait to see how their paths will cross!
Doubt

Premiere Date: October 11
Network: MBC
Stars: Han Seok Kyu (Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim), Han Ye Ri (My Unfamiliar Family), Chae Won Bin (My Lovely Boxer), Oh Yeon Soo (Military Prosecutor Doberman)
Slot: Friday & Saturday
Number Of Episodes: 10
Genre: Thriller, Crime
Synopsis: A top criminal profiler suffers through dilemma when he unexpectedly discovers his daughter’s secret related to a murder case that he is investigating.
Thoughts: The plot sounds intriguing and the cast is full of top-notch actors!
A Virtuous Business

Premiere Date: October 12
Network: JTBC, Netflix
Stars: Kim So Yeon (The Penthouse), Kim Sung Ryung (The Heirs), Kim Sun Young (Crash Landing On You), Lee Se Hee (Bad Prosecutor), Yeon Woo Jin (Daily Dose Of Sunshine)
Slot: Saturday & Sunday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Drama, Comedy
Synopsis: Four rural women start an adult products business in 1992 — embarking on a journey of self-discovery and financial independence.
Thoughts: I started this show and I really liked the first two episodes. Inspiring and fun with amusing characters, the setting of the 90s and a simple town add to its charm.
Dong Jae, The Good Or The Bastard

Premiere Date: October 14
Network: tvN
Stars: Lee Joon Hyuk (365: Repeat the Year), Park Sung Woong (The Killing Vote)
Slot: Monday & Tuesday
Number Of Episodes: 10
Genre: Crime, Thriller, Drama
Synopsis: Another spinoff on the list — this time from one of the best thrillers ever — Stranger aka Forest Of Secrets. Dong Jae, The Good Or The Bastard is centered around the prosecutor with grey shades — Seo Dong Jae. The drama will show his challenges and the struggles due to his tarnished reputation of being a corrupt prosecutor in the past. He will face off against the CEO of a construction company.
Thoughts: If you have read my blog regularly, you must know that I’m a huge fan of the Stranger series. This spinoff is not written by the original writer but I’m still interested in watching Dong Jae’s story after the events of previous seasons.
Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born

Premiere Date: October 12
Network: tvN
Stars: Kim Tae Ri (Revenant), Shin Ye Eun (The Secret Romantic Guesthouse), Ra Mi Ran (Cold Blooded Intern), Jung Eun Chae (Pachinko), Kim Yoon Hye (Sh**ting Stars)
Slot: Saturday & Sunday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Historical, Drama
Synopsis: Set in the 1950s, the show is about a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor.
Thoughts: I love that this drama is led by an all-female cast. I also think the setting of 1950s is something we haven’t seen much in dramaland. So that adds to another interesting feature about this show.
Family By Choice

Premiere Date: October 9
Network: JTBC
Stars: Hwang In Youp (True Beauty), Jung Chaeyeon (The Golden Spoon), Bae Hyeon Seong (Miraculous Brothers)
Slot: Wednesday
Number Of Episodes: 16
Genre: Family, Romance, Comedy
Synopsis: It’s about three people — two boys and a girl — who are not siblings but they are raised together for 10 years by two fathers. But as they grow older, they get separated for 10 years and then they reconnect.
Thoughts: This one looks cute and heartwarming.
Hellbound 2

Premiere Date: October 25
Network: Netflix
Stars: Kim Sung Chul (Our Beloved Summer), Kim Hyun Joo (The Bequeathed), Kim Shin Rok (The Kidnapping Day)
Slot: All episodes released together
Number Of Episodes: 6
Genre: Mystery, Horror, Thriller, Fantasy
Synopsis: The show is set in a world where unearthly beings deliver condemnations, sending individuals to hell and giving rise to a religious group founded on the idea of divine justice.
Thoughts: I have not seen the first season so my interest in this instalment is pretty low.
