Lee Dong Wook was last seen in a comedy role in drama Divorce Insurance and now he is going to be seen in a serious one — his next drama is JTBC’s romance melo The Nice Guy (hope we don’t confuse it with almost similarly titled Nice Guy) and he plays the eldest grandson of a third-generation gangster family with an unexpectedly pure heart. The drama stars Lee Sung Kyung (Call It Love) opposite him.

Lee Dong Wook stars as a man who once dreamed of becoming a novelist like Ernest Hemingway but reluctantly turned to the gangster life to survive. Lee Sung Kyun plays his first love, a woman who is an aspiring singer.
I’m low -key looking forward to it as I like the main actors and I’m excited to see this pairing and to know more about the story. We have seen some gangster/romances in dramaland in the past like When A Man Falls in Love and recently, My Sweet Mobster.
The Nice Guy is penned by the screenwriter of Yoo Na’s Street and The Duo. It is premiering on July 18.
Yoo Na’s Street was a great, well written drama. It also didn’t really drag towards the end either and it’s a 50 epi one. So, it bodes well (at least somewhat) for this one. Of course even good writers have duds from time to time. Hopefully The Good Boy ain’t one of those.
True….sometimes I can’t believe the same writer has written 2 dramas that are so different in terms of quality.
I have not seen Yoona’s Street but I remember reading good things about it. Wow, I didn’t know it was 50 ep long!
Yeah, it’s a long one, the episodes were 60 min too. Not that I minded, I was kinda obsessed and watched some of the last episodes raw first as it took a while for them to get subs.
I love both the leads a whole lot so I’m really looking forward to this one.
Same! I like both of them. Hopefully this drama won’t disappoint!
I’m keeping everything crossed that’s the case!
