I’m not a huge fan of episodic dramas but I do enjoy them from time to time. And the new tvN legal drama Law And The City sounds like it will have a slice-of-life angle to it. It is about five associate attorneys who work in different law firms — their challenges, triumphs and their daily lives. They spend their precious lunch breaks together and work at Seochodong Judicial Town.
Lee Jong Suk plays associate attorney Ahn Ju Hyeong, who has sharp logic and accurate legal knowledge and is working in the same firm for past 9 years. Moon Ga Young plays Kang Hui Ji, a confident and no-nonsense first-year associate attorney. She wants to focus on people, not just cases. Both Ju Hyeong and Hui Ji fall in love with each other.
Ryu Hye Young, who had previously starred as a law student in 2021 drama Law School, plays Bae Mun Jeong, who has a warm and blunt personality. Kang You Seok (Resident Playbook) plays Cho Chang Won, an easygoing and friendly person who is known for his talkative nature and constant input in conversations. Finally, Im Seong Jae (When The Stars Gossip) rounds out the main cast, starring as Ha Sang Gi, an associate lawyer who also works as a food blogger.
It has been 3 years since Lee Jong Suk did a drama, his last being 2022’s Big Mouth. Personally, I haven’t seen him in anything since Romance Is A Bonus Book and that show came out in 2019 (!!!) and that’s why it feels like ages since I last saw him in anything. This is Moon Ga Young’s second drama this year, the other being rom-com My Dearest Nemesis.
I’m excited for this show as it blends legal stuff with day-to-day ordinary moments of the lawyers, something we don’t usually see in legal shows. I’m also looking forward to friendships and romance.
Law And The City premieres today on tvN with a total of 12 episodes.
