I’m super excited for upcoming Netflix Kdrama Can This Love Be Translated! There are quite a few reasons for that: it stars two of my favorite actors, Kim Seon Ho (Hometown Cha Cha Cha) and Go Youn Jung (Moving), it’s written by the Hong Sisters (Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, You’re Beautiful, The Greatest Love) and it’s a contemporary rom-com. MBC is bringing a rom-com titled Motel California and it stars one of my favorites Lee Se Young (The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract) opposite Na In Woo, who I really liked in Marry My Husband. The new TVING rom-com Dreaming Of A Freaking Fairytale (previously going by Dreaming of Cinde Fxxxing Rella!) is bringing a twist to the classic Korean drama tale of poor woman-rich man love story. Usually the heroine is innocent and righteous but in this drama, the main character wants to become a Cinderella after suffering through harsh realities of life — by getting married to a rich man. I’m sure she’ll eventually fall in love for real and undergo growth along the way, but I like this fresh take on the standard Cinderella trope. Continue reading →
