2012 was the year of time travel and in the same manner, it seems as if 2013 is gonna belong to sageuks. At least for the spring season, what with so many historical dramas coming up: Lee Seung Gi-Suzy‘s Gu Family Book, Kim Tae Hee‘s Jang Ok Jung, Live For Love and now it’s Mandate Of Heaven. I always debate on who is my most favorite Korean actor among so many of them, joining my favorites’ list day by day. My confused thinking shortlists Lee Min Ho and Lee Seung Gi. And that’s where the real dilemma starts. But if I consider the actor whose almost all the dramas I’ve seen, Lee Seung Gi wins. I haven’t seen his dramas prior to Shining Inheritance though. He is really cute, has an incandescent comic timing and does the serious roles (The King 2 Hearts) with same finesse. Continue reading

Flower Boy Next Door is like a breath of fresh air. In this milieu of clichéd rom-coms, it is a different take on the genre of romantic comedies with endearing characters and low-key atmosphere. At first when I watched the promos, i thought it’s gonna be a colorful, happy-go-lucky drama; but it proved to be quite different in the treatment. Continue reading
