Okay, I’m retrieving this topic from my last blog, but with some modifications 🙂
Spectacles can prove to be quite handy if one wants to give a particular personality trait for a character in a movie or a drama. The use of glasses has been extensive and that can portray so many distinct features:
- a nerd
- a studious person
- an intelligent person
- a workaholic, mature person
- simple and innocent girl
- it’s used a lot in ugly duckling-turned-into-swan scenarios
- some eccentric person
- a doctor, writer, etc.
- to make the actor look older than he actually is.
And dramaland has got some of the best looks for heroes using glasses as their accessory and this post is meant to discuss about the ones I really liked. Have a look:
Kang Ji Hwan in Coffee House
I was so, so impressed by this role of Kang Ji Hwan as a weird and sarcastic novelist. He was so different from the drama stereotypes. And his look was made perfect by using those glasses, which accentuated the hotness of him. I am so in love with his look that I like him more with spectacles than the simple one minus pince-nez.
Yoon Kye Sang in Best Love aka The Greatest Love
SO. CUTE. Yoon Kye Sang knocks it out of the park with his adorable performance in the role of a herbal doctor. His expressions are priceless when he is being clueless about the limelight of showbiz. He is the cutest second lead ever. And his glasses add so much to the nerdy and studious factor. Look at that smile, which can melt so many hearts and is simply charming and adorable. (I know I’m using this word so many times but that’s what describes him the best :))
Kang Min Hyuk in You’ve Fallen For Me
He. Is. The. CUTEST!!
Eom Ki Joon in Dream High and The World That They Live In
Wow, I simply respect this guy as he is stellar in every role he does. Give him any role, and he will transform into it ever so effortlessly. Dream High showed him as a righteous and idealistic teacher and the spectacles completed the look that make him look so innocent. The World That They Live In stars him as a cold PD and he appears so enigmatic and was the best thing about the show. With glasses emphasising the fact.
Daniel Choi in School 2013
Daniel Choi plays a school teacher and gives an understated and mature performance and yes, the spectacles make his look perfect as the teacher. I liked him a lot in this role. He also sported glasses for his movie Cyrano Dating Agency and looked adorable in it as well.
Lee Ji Hoon in You’re The Best Lee Soon Shin
He is stealing everyone’s heart in this show with his awesome performance of the caring restaurant manager and I love his look as well. He has so much warmth in his manner, that makes us like him more and more with each episode.
And as we are talking about it, why not have some more golden moments of our drama heroes with spectacles in random stills:
