Cable channels are remarkable in the sense that they always add freshness to their shows even if the genre is romance, the most clichéd of all. Network jTBC is bringing another drama in May named Yoo Na’s Street in which Kim Ok Bin plays the titular role of Yoo Na who is a professional pickpocket. Well, that’s surely a new description for a heroine as far as dramaland is concerned which is obsessed with its cheerful, plucky, hard-working heroines. So, Yoo Na goes to prison and after coming out, she starts working in a cafe. She actually has a warm heart and possibly wants to turn a new leaf by being a better person in life. Lee Hee Joon stars as a bright and positive man who wants to become a social worker (that’s so sweet) and enters a multiplex of a low income area where the most impoverished and delinquent people live and he tries to help them to improve their lives and values. I like this setting which is entwined with ideals and warmth. The show is described as a human-romance drama, so we’ll be getting an emotional ride for sure. Kim Ok Bin last appeared in sageuk Sword And Flower which was a disappointing venture and it was sadder because she mostly works in movies and it was her small screen comeback after almost 7 years. Anyhow, it’s good to see her back in dramaverse again and that too in a cable channel that more often than not ensures a quality project. Lee Hee Joon is an actor I’m not acquainted with but he is known for his roles in shows like You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly and God Of The Workplace. Yoo Na’s Street also costars Shin So Yool who was great in Answer Me 1997 (Although she has also worked in other dramas and movies after that, but I still remember her for the lovely performance in it). She is playing a girl who wants to become an actress.

Yoo Na’ Street premieres on 19 May and follows currently popular Secret Love Affair. The direction is by PD of The Duo and Dandelion Family while the writer penned The Duo. The posters look sunny, cute and light-hearted and I like that the show seems to emphasise on an ensemble cast set-up, which is always fun to watch.
