Creepy and atmospheric ‘The Village: Achiara’s Secret’ is all set to start this Wednesday

I’m champing at the bit for upcoming mystery thriller The Village: Achiara’s Secret (or simply The Village) as it looks soaked in mystery, suspense, creepiness and secrets. Not to mention the setting, in a village, that contributes in spades in making the show atmospheric and extra eerie. The drama is about the discovery of a dead body in a peaceful village/ town named Achiara where no criminal cases ever occur.

Moon Geun Young (Goddess Of Fire) plays an English school teacher who comes to this place to seek some answers regarding her family that got killed in an accident. Yook Sung Jae (from Kpop group BtoB and last seen winning hearts in Who Are You — School 2015) plays a police officer who wanted to be like a movie cop — you know, with all action and everything — but being in a simple village, he never got a chance to do anything heroic. Jung Sung Mo (King’s Daughter, Soo Baek Hyang) plays the most powerful man of the town while Shin Eun Kyung (Oh My Ghostess) plays his second wife and Ohn Joo Wan (Punch) plays his son. Jang Hee Jin (Scholar Who Walks The Night) stars as this wealthiest man’s mistress and an art teacher who goes missing one day but nobody pays attention. Hm. Looks like she is the said victim whose body will be discovered. The world of the drama will be populated by these characters who get entangled in mystery and some take up the task to solve it. Of course, our heroine will be the main person headlining this and I’m so happy about this fact (Yes, I love Nancy Drew!).

I think The Village: Achiara’s Secret looks like a must see for all fans of the mystery genre. The drama has released two posters that encapsulate the basic theme — one with Moon Geun Young surrounded by creepy hands while the other one has the whole cast. The show is from the writer of Que Sera Sera and PD of Great Seer and Iljimae. It premieres tomorrow on SBS as the new Wednesday-Thursday drama. Its preceding show Yongpal received huge ratings, so this may come as a favour for it. The competition includes She Was Pretty which is gradually seeing increment in its ratings and Master of Trade—Inn 2015 which is not doing well on this front.
