MBC is bringing a fantasy drama titled The Golden Spoon. The plot is about a poor man whose fate gets swapped with a rich man via a golden spoon. It is based on a webtoon that ran from 2016 to 2018. It is screen adapted by the writing duo who penned shows like The Prime Minister And I (2013) and superhits Winter Sonata (2002) and Summer Scent (2003), and my personal favourite Sweet 18 (2004). Now this is what I call a large-scale show from every angle. The Lonely Shining Goblin or simply Goblin screams blockbuster from its very first frame. It has a movie-like quality, especially in its sageuk scenes (the history portion) and it is grand, not only in style but also in content. And of course, the star cast includes the hottest names. Hit drama writer Kim Eun Sook has another ratings winner in her successful filmography. Continue reading →

I have to give credit to Village: Secret Of Achiara for attempting something different in the milieu of kdramas that usually have same, run-of-the-mill plots and tropes that get recycled again and again. It’s another thing to wonder if it succeeds in its task or not. Well, yes and not totally yes. Continue reading →

It was an uphill task to finally start Village: Secret of Achiara, the new SBS drama, as the English subtitles were not available readily. Thankfully, the show is not getting subbed and I managed to watch first two episodes. I’m finding it very interesting and something very different from what we usually see in dramaland. It has mystery, eerie atmosphere and secrets. Continue reading →

Full of laughs and full of warmth.
I really liked the subtle, soft and indie-like start of The Interest Of Love.
