Cast update and script reading for ‘Goblin’

It has been a long time since I shared my thoughts regarding Gong Yoo‘s return to dramaland via Goblin, the upcoming fantasy romance by hit writer Kim Eun Sook and to be aired on tvN. The other cast members have been confirmed and the line-up looks great!

I’m so happy that the leading lady will be played Kim Go Eun, who was lovely in Cheese In The Trap. She plays a high school senior who is an optimistic girl despite the pain she suffers. Gong Yoo plays the titular goblin who wants to end the immortality of his life by marrying a human bride. Lee Dong Wook (Bubblegum) has signed on to play an amnesiac grim reaper who happens to live with our hero — yay for bromance! Yoo In Na (reuniting with the writer after Secret Garden) plays a cheerful owner of a chicken shop. I find her very charming in all her roles. Then we have cute Yook Sung Jae (Village: Secret Of Achiara) as a chaebol heir of the family that has taken care of the goblin. Lee El (she was fantastic in Liar Game) has joined the cast in a positive role of a woman who supports our heroine in all her struggles. Then we have some cameos by Kim So Hyun (Bring It On Ghost) and Kwak Dong Yeon (the badass bodyguard from Moonlight Drawn By Clouds).

The script reading took place a few days back. Goblin will be directed by the PD of Descendants of the Sun, Secret and School 2013. It will be a Friday-Saturday drama following The K2 in December. Can’t wait!
