If you have been reading my blog from past few years, you must be knowing that Snow is a huuuuuge Hong Sisters fan! I fell in love with Delightful Girl Choon Hyang (my first drama) even when I didn’t know they created it. Then that love further increased with You’re Beautiful and Best Love, with My Girl, Master’s Sun and My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho also coming close. I never watched Couple Of Fantasy (its

premise never attracted me) and Hong Gil Dong (a sageuk, and I read something about the ending..). Big was a big (pun intended) mistake and I dropped Warm And Cozy as it was a snoozefest. I love how deftly they mix heart and humour in their shows and although their magic seems to dim a bit in later dramas, but the candle of hope is still burning that they will return to their past form with the next show. Hence, I’m really excited that they are coming back with a new drama, which is called Hwayugi, which is based on a Chinese novel Journey To The West.

Published in the 16th century, Journey To The West is a classic novel about a monk who travels to the west and in his journey, he is accompanied by four companions who help him as an atonement for their sins. Hwayugi will be a modern interpretation where the heroine will be the monk character. The drama can possibly see a reunion galore as it is currently courting Cha Seung Won and Lee Seungi Gi to star. Yay! Both the actors have worked with the writers in Best Love and My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho respectively, while together they have done You’re All Surrounded. Not to mention the memorable cameo Lee Seung Gi had in Best Love. The role offered to him was previously courting Park Bo Gum who later declined. Hwayugi will be a romance which tells about finding light and love and defeating the dark forces.

Lee Seung Gi is currently serving his mandatory military service and will be discharged in October (another Yay). Time surely flies and in this case, it’s a good thing! Hwayugi will also see the Hong Sisters collaborating with cable network tvN for the first time. It will be directed by the PD of Best Love, Warm And Cozy and Queen Seon Deok and plans to premiere in December.
