Jo Jung Suk headlines fantasy ‘Two Cops’ for MBC

My first reaction on hearing about new MBC drama Two Cops was a resounding ‘No’ but then with time, I decided to remain as open-minded as possible. Reason being that one of my favorites Jo Jung Suk (The King 2 Hearts, Jealousy Incarnate, Oh My Ghostess) was being paired with Hyeri, who I liked in Answer Me 1988 but not at all in the few episodes of Entertainer that I watched. The setting sounds surely funny and interesting and a lot as if roles are reversed this time for Jo Jung Suk from his role in Oh My Ghostess.

Two Cops is a story of a righteous and dogged detective who gets possessed by the soul of a con artist. Jo Jung Suk plays the cop while Kim Sun Ho (Strongest Deliveryman, Chief Kim) plays the latter. Hyeri stars as a rookie reporter, who falls for our hero. I just hope this time the drama will satisfactorily explain ‘is she in love with him or the spirit inside?’. Lee Shi Un plays a Yongpal kind of role, meaning a doctor who treats gangsters. Hoya plays the youngest member of Jo Jung Suk’s team (yay for Answer Me 1997 reunion! In fact, we have three alums from the franchise.)

The drama is directed by the PD of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo and A New Leaf while penned by a new writer. It will air on Mondays and Tuesdays and premieres tomorrow.

I’m very much on the fence about this. I’ve sort or had my fill of cop shows/mysteries lately and having Hyeri in the mix is not reassuring. Chances are I’ll skip this in the end. We’ll see…
