Another remake is on its way this week after the premiere of Suits on KBS. Mistress is coming up on OCN and it’s based on 2008 British series Mistresses, a story revolving around four female friends. The show also had an American remake by the same name and now we will see the plot set in Korea and will have a mystery-thriller angle attached to it. I’m already intrigued by the posters which perfectly capture an enigmatic air with a moody, surreal vibe. The main four leads are played by Han Ga In, Choi Hee Seo, Goo Jae Yi and Shin Hyun Bin. I’m not at all familiar with most of their works. Han Ga In is returning to acting after 6 years after doing megahit drama The Moon That Embraces The Sun and popular movie Architecture 101 back in 2012. Shin Hyun Bin has acted in shows like One More Happy Ending and Mystery Queen, while Choi Hee Seo has mostly done films (Anarchist from Colony, Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet). I’ve only seen Goo Jae Yi, in Dating Agency Cyrano where she was cast opposite Lee Kwang Soo as a chef and I liked her there.
On one hand, for the female cast, it is mostly my first time watching them, but the male leads are all quite known faces to me — Oh Jung Se (Miss Korea, Plus Nine Boys), Park Byung Eun (Because This Life Is Our First), Ji Il Joo (Age Of Youth‘s crazy boyfriend) and Lee Hee Joon (Legend Of The Blue Sea). Lee Hae Young (Black, I’m Not A Robot) also costars.
Mistress is starting this weekend on Saturday and plans for a short drama length of 12 episodes. It is helmed by the PD of melodramas Alone In Love and Valid Love.
