SKY Castle was an unexpected hit in 2018. The director-writer team of the popular JTBC drama is now coming back with its new show titled Snowdrop. The drama will air on JTBC and has confirmed a long list of cast members. The drama is set in 1987 and stars Jung Hae In and Kpop group BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo as university students. They both first meet via a blind date but later he ends up in her dorm in a wounded condition. Many faces from SKY Castle have joined the drama — Kim Hye Yoon plays a telephone operator at the dormitory and Yoon Se Ah plays the strict housemother of the dorm.
And just when you think the show is about university and dorm life, it also has characters as NIS agents — Jang Seung Jo (The Good Detective) as the team leader and Jung Eugene as an impulsive and short-tempered agent. Not much has been described in terms of plot line. But I’m intrigued with the character sketch, the late 80s setting and pairing that with the acclaimed team of SKY Castle, Snowdrop looks promising.
I really like Jung Hae In who has shown excellence in his past projects (While You Were Sleeping, Something In The Rain, One Spring Night). Ji Soo has done a supporting role in sageuk Arthdal Chronicles but I’m never too excited when idols are cast as actors but I hope she proves to be one of those idols who are also good actors. I do like Jung Eugene (Something in the Rain, Romance Is a Bonus Book, Still 17) a lot so yay! Yoon Se Ah (Forest Of Secret) is also a strong cast member to look forward to.
Snowdrop is planning for a 2021 premiere.
