Revenge dramas are aplenty but the new JTBC drama comes with a fantasy twist. Chaebol Family’s Youngest Son tells the story of a man who has devotedly worked for a rich family for more than 10 years. He is wrongly framed for embezzlement by the same chaebol family and then killed in the process. The man is then reborn as the family’s youngest son when he finds himself in his body. He then proceeds to seek revenge against those who led to his destruction.

The plot sounds intriguing. Song Joong Ki, on the heels of delivering a hit performance in Vincenzo, has been courted for the lead role. Shin Hyun Bin, who played the nerdy but adorable doctor in Hospital Playlist, is in talks too. She is courted for the role of a prosecutor who is not hesitant to use any means possible in order to get justice. I like the idea of this fresh pairing. I loved Song Joong Ki in his last titular role as Vincenzo, where he flexed emotional as well as comedy muscles.

Chaebol Family’s Youngest Son is being written by the scriptwriter of dramas like Designated Survivor: 60 Days and Sungkyunkwan Scandal, with the script based on an eponymous web novel. It is slated to premiere in the first half of 2022.
