2024 is ending soon (where did the time go!?) and November is bringing a deluge of Korean drama premieres. For our ease, here is a brief summary of all of them:
Love Your Enemy

Stars: Joo Ji Hoon (Blood Free), Jung Yoo Mi (The School Nurse Files), Lee Shi Woo (Boyhood), Kim Ye Won (Call It Love)
Slot: Saturday & Sunday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Synopsis: It’s a love story between two people who were born on the same day and have the same name and whose families have been enemies for generations.
Thoughts: ‘Feuding families’ used to be a common trope long back. And I’m not really a fan. But the solid lead cast has piqued my interest and I’m so excited to see Joo Ji Hoon in a romantic role after so long.
Face Me

Premiere Date: November 6
Network: KBS
Stars: Lee Min Ki (Crash), Han Ji Hyun (No Gain, No Love), Lee Yi Kyung (Marry My Husband)
Slot: Wednesday & Thursday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Medical
Synopsis: It’s about an unlikely partnership between a cold plastic surgeon and a passionate detective who team up to solve crimes by utilizing reconstructive surgeries for the victims.
Thoughts: I like the cast and even if I’m not a huge fan of procedurals, I do find this premise fresh.
Brewing Love

Premiere Date: November 4
Network: ENA
Stars: Kim Se Jung (Business Proposal), Lee Jong Won (Knight Flower)
Slot: Monday & Tuesday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Synopsis: A love story between a very passionate sales manager at a liquor company who hides her emotions and a super sensitive brewery owner who is adept at catching people’s emotions.
Thoughts: I really liked Kim Se Jung in Business Proposal and I’m looking forward to see her in this new rom-com. It looks fun and romantic and cute — just my cup of tea!
When The Phone Rings

Premiere Date: November 22
Network: MBC
Stars: Yoo Yun Suk (The Interest Of Love), Chae Soo Bin (The Fabulous), Jang Gyu Ri (The Player 2: Master Of Swindlers), Heo Nam Joon (Your Honor)
Slot: Friday & Saturday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Romance
Synopsis: A marriage of convenience couple — he is a Blue House press secretary and she works as a sign language interpreter, who has mutism due to a childhood accident — their cold and convenient relationship takes a new turn when a stranger kidnaps her.
Thoughts: I love Chae Soo Bin and I love marriage of convenience trope. Adding mystery-thriller elements to this surely adds to my excitement.
The Fiery Priest 2

Premiere Date: November 8
Network: SBS
Stars: Kim Nam Gil (Through The Darkness), Kim Sung Kyun (Moving), Honey Lee (Knight Flower), BIBI (The Worst Of Evil), Sung Joon (Call It Love), Seo Hyun Woo (Behind Every Star)
Slot: Friday & Saturday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Action, Comedy, Crime
Synopsis: It’s a sequel to 2019 hit The Fiery Priest where a priest with anger issues (Kim Nam Gil) a soft-hearted detective (Kim Sung Kyun) and a fearless prosecutor (Honey Lee) joined forces to solve a murder mystery. In part 2, they team up to solve a drug case in Busan.
Thoughts: The first season received such high praise and it is on my watch-list for so long! I should watch it soon! So that I can watch this new season.
The Trunk

Premiere Date: November 29
Network: Netflix
Stars: Gong Yoo (Goblin), Seo Hyun Jin (Why Her?)
Slot: All episodes released together
Number Of Episodes: 8
Genre: Romance, Mystery, Drama
Synopsis: It’s about a secretive marriage service accompanied by a mysterious trunk. A man uses this agency’s services and enters into a contract marriage with its employee in order to preserve his previous marriage.
Thoughts: Another drama that adds marriage of convenience/ contract marriage trope with thriller-mystery elements! But it is giving off a completely different vibe — this one sounds more like a psychological, dark thriller. I love the cast and the plot and promo looks so intriguing.
Mr. Plankton

Premiere Date: November 8
Network: Netflix
Stars: Woo Do Hwan (The King: Eternal Monarch), Lee Yoo Mi (Strong Girl Namsoon), Oh Jung Se (Revenant)
Slot: All episodes released together
Number Of Episodes: 10
Genre: Romance, Comedy, Drama
Synopsis: A man who has a terminal disease takes off on a journey to find his biological father and he meets a runaway bride on his way who also joins him in his search.
Thoughts: It’s from the writer of It’s Okay To Not Be Okay — that’s the main draw. Also, we don’t usually see road trip dramas in dramaland so that’s another interesting bit about this show.
Parole Examiner Lee

Premiere Date: November 18
Network: tvN
Stars: Go Soo (Missing: The Other Side), Kwon Yu Ri (Good Job), Baek Ji Won (The Deal), Lee Hak Joo (My Dearest)
Slot: Monday & Tuesday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Legal, Thriller
Synopsis: It’s about a lawyer who becomes a parole officer and delivers his own brand of justice and prevents inmates who show little remorse for their crimes from obtaining paroles through money, connections, or guileful tactics.
Thoughts: My interest level is not very high for this one but I did find the goofy teasers amusing. Because the genre did not include comedy!
The Tale Of Lady Ok

Premiere Date: November 30
Network: JTBC
Stars: Im Ji Yeon (The Glory), Choo Young Woo (Oasis), Kim Jae Won (Hierarchy), Yeon Woo (Bitter Sweet Hell)
Slot: Saturday & Sunday
Number Of Episodes: 16
Genre: Historical, Romance, Drama
Synopsis: Set in the Joseon era, the drama is about a female attorney who is known for her skills and kind heart. But her name, status and even her husband are all fake.
Thoughts: This one looks like a serious and solid sageuk (Korean historical drama). But I’m gonna wait for the reviews to give it a try.
Gangnam B-Side

Premiere Date: November 6
Network: Disney+
Stars: Jo Woo Jin (Narco-Saints), Ji Chang Wook (Welcome To Samdalri), Ha Yoon Kyung (See You In My 19th Life), BIBI (The Worst Of Evil)
Slot: Wednesday
Number Of Episodes: 8
Genre: Action, Thriller, Crime
Synopsis: A detective, a prosecutor, and a mysterious broker team up to solve a case that lurks beneath the surface of Gangnam. Their mission is to find a woman who is the missing ace of a club.
Thoughts: This show definitely gets points for having a premise that feels different and interesting. This fits more into movie plots than dramas. Color me intrigued.
Marry You

Premiere Date: November 16
Network: Channel A
Stars: Lee Yi Kyung (Marry My Husband), Jo Soo Min (Secret Royal Inspector), Ji Yi Soo (When The Camellia Blooms), Koo Jun Hoe (Twinkling Watermelon)
Slot: Thursday
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Synopsis: A love story between a bachelor from a remote island whose life goal is marriage, and a woman — a level 7 civil servant — who is determined to stay single.
Thoughts: I do find this opposites attract premise very cute and fun. And Lee Yi Kyung has great comic timing. So maybe I’m interested.
Social Savvy Class 101

Premiere Date: November 10
Network: Cinema Heaven
Stars: Kim Woo Suk (Finland Papa), Kang Na Un (Wedding Impossible)
Slot: Sunday
Number Of Episodes: 8
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Synopsis: An outsider in a school becomes the manager of “Insider Time,” an anonymous community app that holds all the secrets of the entire school.
Thoughts: I no longer feel interested in high school dramas. So my interest in this one is pretty low.
